Dr. James E. Bowers graduated with both a BS and an MA degree in biology from Howard University in Washington, D. C. and further matriculated there to earn his dental degree.
Dr. Bowers is licensed to practice dentistry in Maryland, the District of Columbia, Georgia, and South Carolina. He received Specialty Training and is a board-certified Prosthodontist. He is also a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College.
He is a member of the American Board of Prosthodontics, the American College of Prosthodontics, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Atlanta Seattle Study Club. He served as Chief of the Prosthodontics departments at Ft. Leavenworth, KS; Ft. Richardson, AK; Ft. Knox, KY where he was also Assistant Director of the US Army 2YR Advanced General Dentistry Program, and Ft. Stewart, GA.
Dr. Bowers served a tour of duty in Vietnam as a Non-Commissioned Officer. Dr. Bowers’ (retired Colonel) personal and unit decorations include Legion of Merit, three Meritorious Service Awards, Army Commendation Medal, two Army Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, two National Defense Service Medals, Retired Army Lapel Button, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device. He also received membership to the Prestigious Order of Military Medical Merit. Dr. Bowers received Consumer’s Research Council of America, America’s top dentists in 2005/2006 and 2007/2008.
Since 1997, Dr. Bowers has been president of Bowers Dental Center, Inc. in Tucker, Georgia. He also serves on the staff at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
